About the Artist

Marie was born in Pittsfield Massachusetts, and spent a majority of her childhood in upstate New York bouncing between a small local library and the forest behind her house. Through her explorations in nature she acquired a deep sense of appreciation for the flora and fauna of the northeast, but in reading the many books stacked in her bedroom, also an open curiosity for the foreign world outside her semi-rural town. For her, these burgeoning interests laid the foundation for what was to be a lifelong pursuit of the visual and literary arts.

Upon her swift exit from childhood, Marie enrolled in the Fine Arts program at Hudson Valley Community College. After an A.S. and a few years of showcasing her work at local venues, her creative intuition led her to Florida. Under the bright skies and enveloping heat, she continued her arts education at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota. To once again unite her interests in visual art and narrative fiction, she dove into the disciplines of Illustration and Visual Development. After receiving her B.F.A., Marie returned to New York and enrolled in the Art Education program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. There, she expanded upon her knowledge of child development and refined her skills in teaching. She completed her M.S.T. in 2015.

Marie has worked as a freelance illustrator for private clients throughout her time as a visual arts student. At Ringling, she co-founded the Storytelling and Writing Club and in 2013 the group showcased their first collaborative exhibition. In 2015, she became a member of the Innovation Team at Hasbro Toys where she created and pitched game-changing concepts for the Girl's Design Team. Marie returned to the capital district of New York in 2017 and has been developing a new body of work along with the manuscript to a YA novel.

She had missed developing fantastic worlds and the writing of creative fiction.
